RAD ‘MANS’ HEWER WITH BRIGHT NICKEL FINISH.

These large and heavy hewers were worn by all ranks in the RAD until the Officers version was introduced in 1938. This particular dagger, in my opinion was made probably in the later 1930's or early 1940's, as it is steel based with a great bright nickel finish to all the metal parts. Nice stag grip, with no issues. This bright plating technique is seen on a ew manufacturers, even on occasional SS daggers. The plating remains about 95% intact. Scabbard body has the original black painted center part, with a little age wear to the front. Back has been protected by a hanger, so is in perfect condition. Blade is in very good order. No damage, sharpening or nicks from the edge. These blades are huge and contribute to the overall weight of the dagger. The RAD motto is etched to the obverse of the blade. Arbeit Adelt. The reverse riccasso has the maker mark of and the RAD proof of RADJ in a triangle. Good looking piece.
