A NAMED IMPERIAL GERMAN NAVAL SWORD BY WK&C. FULLY ETCHED BLADE ETC.

This is quite a spectacular piece and reflects the fantastic workmanship of the early WKC company, then called W.K &C. All brass construction to the hilt and scabbard fittings. A beautiful IVORY grip with a wide single twisted grip wire. Lions head pommel with red and green glass eyes. The front folding clamshell crossguard features the Imperial German crown over an anchor. The reverse folding langet, used to lock the scabbard into place, is engraved with the original owner surname ‘Schneider’ in script. Scabbard has the normal 3 fittings. The top two having targets carrying rings. The black scabbard leather is in excellent condition considering this is well over 100 years old. No damage, no bends! The pipe backed blade is beautifully deeply etched on both sides and the spine. It features (amongst other things), a sailing ship in full sail, crossed cannons, a large anchor with the Imprrial crown above it.
The obverse blade riccasso has the WK&C trademarks of the Kings head beside the Knights head.
Great looking sword and VERY hard to find these days.
