AN EXCEPTIONALLY NICE RAD OFFICERS DAGGER WITH STRAPS.

Coming from an old collection, this RAD Officers dagger has been well looked after and is in lovely condition throughout. The silver plated fittings, both on the hilt and the scabbard, obviously have a high silver content as they have developed that ‘blue sheen’ that uncleaned silver does. The dagger is made by Eickhorn. These daggers are prone to ‘bubbling’ on the plated surfaces. This one has very little. A small bit to the pommel edge where it meets the grip. A little on the reverse crossguard and a small area on the reverse scabbard. Does not detract from the overall appearance, which I said is lovely. The cream celluloid grip is perfect with no cracks or damage. Scabbard is dent free and apart from the area mentioned above, is in mint condition. The blade is really great. Mint condition. Mirror surface to the steel and deep grey colour to the motto Arbeit adelt. The reverse riccasso has a perfect Eickhorn etched squirrel from 1935-42. These daggers were only introduced for officer wear in 1936. Up until then both officers and men wore the huge RAD hewer. There are a super set of RAD brown leather hangers with the dagger. These are in exceptional condition. Tan leather with no cracking or damage and no real evidence of wear. They compliment the dagger perfectly.
