AN EXCELLENT ‘RURAL’ POLICE BAYONET, WITH FROG AND LARGE PORTAPEE.

This is a really super example of a RURAL police parade bayonet. It has great tan brown scabbard leather and frog. These rural police bayonets are much more uncommon that the black leather TOWN/CITY bayonets. The country/rural Feldgendarmerie had brown backed uniform insignia and all the equipment, belt leather etc was brown too. Bayonet is a prime example of the standard cut-down Weimar police bayonet. You can see where the stag grip was shortened as well as the blade length. A very nice stag grip with aluminium oval police insignia. Reverse of crossguard is issue numbered and it has matching letters/numbers on the back of the scabbard throat.Looks like L.F. 108. It I also has 3 numbers stamped into the blade spine and also top of the scabbard throat. 445. So matching number TWICE just to be sure!!! A very nice brown police bayonet frog with aluminium reinforced rivets. The frog has a very nice large/wide portapee with very large acorn ball. This is actually a ‘grosse’ sword knot from a police officers sword. Not sure how it got on here but it looks very nice. A tan brown leather scabbard in perfect condition. All leather colour matches throughout. A mint nickel plated blade with double ALCOSO or Alexander Coppel makers marks.
