A MOST UNUSUAL NSKK/SA OR NPEA DAGGER.

Quite a strange one this, but in my opinion totally original. Initially, looking at it from the outside, it’s a nice RZM period NSKK dagger with custom adapted vertical leather frog. Has later type nickel plated fittings which are all in near perfect condition. A beautiful wood grip with aluminium eagle and SA enamel button. The factory painted black scabbard is wonderful, with just some surface ‘spidering’ to prove its old etc. However, pull the dagger from the scabbard and you have a stone mint, completely plain blade!! When I mean plain, it has NO maker/RZM mark and NO motto - nothing! Most weird. It’s a lovely looking dagger but exactly who or what used it will perhaps remain a mystery.
Personally, and mainly because of the leather frog, I think this was used by the NPEA. They had a habit of using some very strange Holbein dagger combinations. SA daggers with green scabbards, black scabbards and plain grips etc etc. The frog is date stamped 1936 and has a cut out to accommodate the carrying ring on the left. It’s also moulded to the shape of the dagger scabbard, so has been on this dagger for a very long time.
Anyway, it is what it is, and very interesting indeed.
(If you had a ‘textbook’ (no such thing!) NPEA then the frog on this dagger would be nearly worth the purchase price on its own)
