THIRD REICH RURAL POLICE BAYONET. MATCHING DETAILS ETC.

Police bayonets are extremely fascinating and carry a lot of history. Most, like this one, started life during the Weimar Republic, were much longer, had Weimar police badge on the grip and had a clamshell under the crossguard. Very impressive sidearms!! These were nearly all changed in the early 1930’s by the Third Reich police armorers and re-issued. Clamshell removed, blade/scabbard shortened, new police badge installed on the grip.
This one reflects all of the re-issued characteristics, but is slightly shorter than most other Police bayonets. Solid nickel hilt with eagle head pommel. No mortice slot. Nice stag grips. Oval aluminium police badge. Dark brown leather scabbard. Nickel upper and lower fittings attached to leather scabbard with staples. Very nice matching issue markings to the reverse crossguard and top of scabbard throat.
L. Sch.135 .This stands for ‘LANDJAEGERI (Rural Ploice) Schleswig District. Weapon number 135. Has a nice nickel plated blade and is marked on both sides at the riccasso with the Alcoso trademark and company name.

“The sale of Knives and other Edged Weapons are restricted to those aged over 18. Verification of age is required before purchase is concluded.”
