A WONDERFUL EXAMPLE OF A ‘SCHARNHORST’ EICKHORN PARADE SWORD.

One of the series of parade swords manufactured by Eickhorn as part of their ‘FIELD MARSHAL’ series. All named after prominent historical military leaders and commanders from Germans past.
This is the SCHARNHORST pattern. These swords were produced from 1938 up until about 1941. They were initially made with all brass hilts, but later on were made in aluminium and brightly gilded. It is therefore possible, on SOME of the patterns to have a brass one AND a gilded aluminium version. This is a gilded aluminium type but in virtually MINT condition. The lions head hilt is extremely bright with no discernible wear at all! The lions head has 2 red glass eyes. The celluloid grip has the typical Eickhorn triple wire wrap. There is also an original Officers green leather portapee tied around the hilt in the correct manner. The nickel blade is in mint condition with no edge damage etc. The Eickhorn trademark is deeply stamped into the reverse riccasso and is the squirrel logo used from around 1936 - 1941. The scabbard has a few chips and scratches, but is basically 98% perfect.
Sword is fairly long, measuring 38” overall with a 32” blade.
