DLV FLYERS KNIFE BY CARL JULIUS KREBS. PERSONALISED.

A fine example of one of the early dress daggers used by members of the embryonic Luftwaffe the Deutche Luft Verband or DLV. Formed in the early 1930’s as a ‘volunteer’ flying club to get around the Versailles Treaty from WW1. This early all nickel fittings dagger is in excellent condition. Grip and scabbard leather are in near perfect condition. The integral short hanger is permanently attached to the scabbard ring. Carefully scratched into the surface of the upper scabbard fitting is the original owners name plus some numbers and letters. Difficult to see properly though. The scabbard throat is deeply stamped with the DLV winged symbol as well as a tiny number 5. Blade in good condition, nice and bright. Has been cleaned over the years. The oval Carl Julius Krebs is etched into the blade riccasso.
