EARLY RLB OFFICERS 2nd Pattn DAGGER UNTOUCHED CONDITION.

For those of you that love ‘out of the woodwork’ pieces, here is quite a rare dagger that fits that description. I sold this dagger to a collector some 15 years ago, and luckily he has left it as it was then.
This RLB dagger has an all brass base to the crossguard and pommel. Unusual as so many are nickel plated grey alloy, with a few nickel plated ones. The original silver plating has worn off in all but a few places, revealing the dull brass base metal. There is still evidence of the original silver finish in the nooks and crannies of the crossguard wings and around the bottom of the grip. Original 2nd type sun bust grip badge with enamel swastika in the center. This seems to be perfect with NO chipping. The original dark blue grip lesther is in near perfect condition with no damage. The scabbard is in the same uncleaned condition with silver plated fittings which have gone very dark with patina. The middle fitting is again brass (it seems) and that has lost the plating on the high spots. The very dark blue/black leather is all in good condition with no damage or lifting but has faded a little in colour along the lower edge. The unmarked stiletto shaped blade is in near mint condition with all crossgrain polish present. The original leather blade washer is in place.
A really good looking piece.
