UNTOUCHED 1915 PRUSSIAN OR’s PICKELHAUBE COMPLETE.

This is now 108 years old and a true antique. My grandfather bought one of these back from WW1 but donated it to a local school!! Damn! This is a great helmet and shows a few period changes. Black leather skull in very good shape with just a little crazing. Front and rear peaks in good shape and attached to the main body. The grey metal spike is detachable from the base. The grey metal eagle front plate is the original one and never been off. The ‘silhouette’ of the badge is defined by dust and dirt behind it and marks where it has pressed into the leather body. The original leather chin strap has brass buckles which is actually from the very first Pickelhaubes which had brass fitting. The same for the front peak metal edge and rear ‘spine’ fitting. All these are brass, so this was an early helmet re-issued and re-worked. Everything is the same colour, and has 108 years of patina clinging to them! The interior has multiple issue stamps in ink.
Dated 1915. Size 55. A round makers or issue stamp which is difficult to read and the rear peak is stamped inside B.L A VR? Again difficult to read properly. A really super helmet showing a bit of history of these things. Very good display piece. 100% original and untouched.
