RED CROSS OFFICERS DAGGER WITH ORIGINAL HANGERS AND ORIGINAL KNOT. .

A very nice find recently and a dagger I have not owned for quite a while. Firstly, can I explain again that the shape of the scabbard ‘rings’ on these daggers DOES NOT dictate whether they are Red Cross or Social Welfare! The shape , round verses rectagonal is purely down to different manufacturers. The type of hangers worn with the dagger, dictates one from the other. This dagger is in virtually mint condition apart from a couple of tiny areas on the very edge of the pommel where the plating is lifting. Everywhere else is perfect. The star slotted recessed nut on the pommel is very slightly burred, so perhaps someone has attempted to undo it in the past. The bright yellow grip is lovely with an original 42cm bullion knot tied in place. All the nickel plated fittings are in wonderful shape with bright finish. Scabbard is in near perfect condition with a few age spots to the reverse pebbling. The blade has the original black leather washer and like the scabbard is in mint condition with 100% original crossgrain polish.
Accompanying the dagger are a nice set of Red Cross hangers. They have the usual smooth hardware, oval buckles etc and the red striped cloth with a mouse grey/tan velvet backing. These hangers have been worn and used properly and have a little wear to the tops where they go through the hanger clip. They make a nice pair.
