PERHAPS ONE OF THE ULTIMATE ACQUISITIONS IN DAGGER COLLECTING. AN EARLY 1936. SS CHAINED DAGGER.

A really lovely example of an early, all nickel fittings, 1936 SS Officers chained dress dagger. Introduced in 1936 for officers only, it replaced the 1933 style dagger with the addition of a very ornate double chain hanger featuring SS runes and deaths heads cast into the links. This dagger has not been touched in a very long while, so the nickel crossguards etc have turned a little yellow with uncleaned patina. The black ebony grip is perfect and shows minimal wear, no cracks or chips. Scabbard has all nickel upper, lower and middle fittings, with a beautiful Type II chain with great detail. One reverse link is stamped with the SS ‘Kulturzeichen’ mark. The scabbard body retains 99.9% of the original black factory paint, with just a few tiny spider marks in the paint surface to show the age. The blade is 99.9% mint too with all the original crossgrain polish and great grey colour to the motto lettering. There are a couple of tiny age spots to the blade surface near the crossguard, but that’s it! This is a REALLY nice early chained dagger and souks be the highlight of any collection.
