LAND CUSTOMS DAGGER WITH KNOT BY CLEM & JUNG.

A popular and quite rare dagger. Similar in shape and size to an army dagger with several major differences. The Land Customs during the Third Reich were responsible for all their internal and external borders. Like current Customs departments, they checked imports and exports as well as people. This is a dagger with aluminium pommel and crossguard. The scabbard has nickel plated steel fittings. A normal combination. Pommel and ferrel feature pointed Aracus leaves and not oak leaves as on an army dagger. Dark green leather grip with thin single twisted wire wrap. Dark green leather on the scabbard with the triple scabbard fittings, each featuring double feature lines. The aluminium crossguard features the eagke with upswept wing tips. There is an original 42cm bullion portepee tied in the correct manner. I have NEVER seen a Land Customs dagger with anything but this standard portepee. If there IS a green flecked one, I have yet to see an original!! The blade is a nickel plated type in very nice condition, with just a couple of old finger smudges. The Clement &Jung name is written on one side of the blade and their Z on a shield trademark, is on the other. Both are positioned high up on the blade and are difficult to see under the crossguard and eagle, but are both present!!!
