LUFTWAFFE 2nd Pattn. DAGGER BY EICKHORN WITH GILDED SWASTIKAS, HANGERS & KNOT.

A really nice dagger indeed, which on first glance looks to be gilded on the scabbard! I’ve seen this before and people instantly jump to the conclusion it’s a ‘Generals’ dagger! Not so I’m afraid. The scabbard still has most of the protective lacquer OVER the grey scabbard finish. This has turned a gold/gilt colour with age. Does look good though! The heart shaped pommel has 95% of the gilt remaining on both swastikas. A very nice light orange grip, which has the original 23cm knot.
Damage free scabbard etc. Blade is in near mint condition with the Eickhorn logo etched to the reverse. There is a very nice set of original hangers attached to the scabbard rings. These are the ‘de-luxe’ type with oakleaf top fitting and push-up lower snap clips. The hardware on these are also gilded, so they actually make a marvellously matched set.
