A REAL FIND!!! A TENO OFFICERS DAGGER WITH ORIGINAL STRAPS!!!

I was recently contacted by a lady in Scotland to ask if i purchased German daggers, as her father had bought one back after the war. She told me It was on the wall in his house for MANY years, until he died and then we put it away for safekeeping 15 years ago!! Imagine my delight upon seeing the pictures she sent me, to discover the dagger was an UNTOUCHED TENO officers dagger, complete with the very rare fabric straps..............
This piece has been in the same family since the war and had been hanging on the wall for a very long time. The dagger is complete but is not mint. Why should it be? It’s never been cleaned and is covered in cigarette smoke patina, along with age and dust. These daggers are notorious for the silver plating lifting from the grey metal alloy fittings. This one is virtually free of that apart from two patches on the reverse of the crossguard at each end where the crossguard ‘scrolls’. It has a wonderful deep orange celluloid grip, which is slightly lighter on the reverese where it was resting on the wall. The scabbard has turned nearly completely black or very dark grey, uniformly! All TENO daggers, both officers and men’s are numbered on the blade and scabbard throat. This one is marked with stamped number 0268. In fact it appears as 268 on the throat and 0268 on the blade itself (under the crossguard eagle).
There are the ORIGINAL set of fabric TENO hangers which have been with the dagger always. They are complete but have suffered a little from age. The silver bullion stripes have faded a little in two places and the black velvet backings are a little frayed in places. However there are no breaks or torn parts. All the original hardware is present with the distinctive ‘cogwheel’ type found buckles etc.
A TENO officers dagger in perfect condition now commands $6000 (£4500) in the US. An original set of straps (if you can find them) $1500/£1100. An expensive piece and out of reach for many collectors. I have therefore priced this according to condition and completeness. Never been in a collection before!!!
