IMPERIAL GERMAN SENIOR POSTAL OFFICIALS SWORD.

This is an Imperial German Prussian Postal Officials sword. Part of the German Civil Service, they were allowed to wear military style swords for ceremonial duties. This one is made by the early WKC company and features the knights head trademark on the blade riccasso. Actually a very beautiful and dainty sword. These are based on ‘court’ swords and look very elegant. Cast brass gilded hilt with tightly wrapped triple wire around metal grip. Clamshell has the Imperisl eagle with postal service badge over the top. Long thin delicate leather scabbard with numbered top and bottom mounts. Leather is in perfect condition with no damage or bends. Blade has a fuller running the length and is etched both sides with floral and semi military scenes. These swords are featured in period WKC catalogues and in the contemporary sword book. A very nice looking thing.
