WW1 GERMAN TRENCH/FIGHTING KNIFE.
Another variation from a large collection purchased recently. This is the exact example shown on page 40 of the book ‘German fighting knives 1914-1945’ Smooth wood grip, small crossguard and carbine type blade with false upper edge. Scabbard is tubular steel with some original black paint remaining. The strange woven fibre belt loop and cross strap are still present(amazingly) the female popper side is missing though. Blade was period blued it seems, to stop reflections in the field. There is a small ‘Z’ stamp on one riccasso. Great period knife.
