PERSONALISED LUFTWAFFE FIGHTING KNIFE.

An interesting example this. These fighting knives were often personalised by their owners. Usually just a set of initials carved into the wood grips. However, this one is a little better as the original owner has indeed added his initials on one side W.F. but on the other side he has added his divisional regimental symbol. This is a stylised ‘R’ and is the squadron symbol for Jagdgeschwader 2 (JG 2) Von Ricthofen’s squadron carried on from WW1!!! This has been done very well and is in the top half of the grip. The dagger itself has a good exterior with decent scabbard with all the pronged springs to the reverse. The blade has been cleaned over the years and has picked up a few light rust pitted areas, but not terrible. The riccasso is stamped with the little Waffanampt 5.
A historical fighting knife.
