‘SPECIAL OFFER’!!!! A VERY AFFORDABLE EARLY SS ‘33 DAGGER BY ROBERT KLAAS.

Any decent SS is really hard to find or expensive. Good, early SS man’s daggers have all but disappeared. Here is a chance to buy a completely original early ‘33 for a really good price. These daggers, until 1936, were worn by all ranks, officers and men. The initial production were made of very high quality materials. Solid nickel crossguards, grip eagle and scabbard fittings. A high quality blade with a unique makers mark and name.
This dagger has come from the same collection as the SS and police swords and I remember the collector telling me where it came from.
Dagger has very nice crossguards with the lower one marked with a Roman numeral ‘L’. Solid ebony grip is very good. There are some very minor chips to the top on the reverse next to the crossguard edge. At some time (as happens a lot) an enterprising soul has tried to remove the nickel grip eagle. There is a scratch beside the right eagles wing and a couple of ‘digs’ in the wood around to top of the eagle. Luckily they gave up and the damage is minimal, but worth mentioning. The SS enamel button seems to be perfectly intact. The scabbard still has a good covering of the black ‘anodised’ finish, but no lacquer remains. All fittings on this dagger remain cleaned. The lower ball on the scabbard is split and slightly crushed. Now to the blade. 95% of the blade is super, no damage with all original crossgrain polish remaining. The SS motto is very deeply etched and has the background blackening. The reverse riccasso has a great ROBERT KLASS trademark of the twin storks standing.
At some time in the past, and it’s very common with these SS and SA Holbein type daggers, moisture has collected in the bottom of the scabbard by the lead weight. This attacks the tip of the blade as it’s in close proximity. It seems this blade has suffered that at some time and the tip has been professionally polished to remove it. They have done a very good job, but one little pit in the metal remains.
There you go, I’ve described the dagger warts and all!! A 200% real dagger and it’s priced accordingly. (I am also confident that if I bothered to put this in auction, it would make more than my listed price!)
