MID-PERIOD 1st Pattn. LUFTWAFFE BY EMIL VOOS.
A nice example of this 1st Pattn Luftwaffe dagger, which by this time would have been worn exclusively by senior NCO’s. The 2nd Pattn dagger was introduced for officers in 1937 and this type of dagger was authorised for NCO’s. Emily Voos is not a common maker and their trademark of a snake around a tree stump, is found on the blade riccasso of this piece. This dagger is nickel silver plated over the grey metal alloy they used. The buckle silver plating has held up really well and is virtually 100% on the pommel, crossguard and scabbard fittings. As the plating has a very high silver content, the fittings have all darkened as the silver reacts with the atmosphere. It has not been cleaned! Grip has perfect dark blue leather with a triple wire wrap. It has the original 23cm bullion portapee wrapped around the grip. It has some quite heavy wear where it comes out of the tie. Swing wear! Scabbard leather is also 100% with the odd little age bump etc.The chains are completely correct for this period and are in aluminium with OLC marked snap clip.
Blade is in near mint condition with no damage.
Good looking dagger.
