SUPER, UNTOUCHED NSFK FLYERS DAGGER BY SMF.

An extremely nice example of this very popular dagger. Forms part of the history of the Luftwaffe. Originally formed as the DLV (Deutche Luft Verband) which was a ‘volunteer’ flying club or organisation to get around the limits set on Germany under the Versailles Treaty after WW1. Then became the NSFK, National Socialist Flying Korps, before openly forming the Luftwaffe. Members had these nice, smaller flyers daggers, then the 1st Luft dagger and then again, the 2nd Pattn Luftwaffe dagger in 1937. Effectively, if you were in it from the start, you could have worn all three daggers!!!
This has remained uncleaned and not messed with. Nickel fittings throughout. Original colour to the mid-blue leather to the grip and scabbard. Crossguard enamel swastikas are perfect. No chips, no damage. There is even quite a lot of the original silver frosting, which was the original final flash coat finish over the nickel. Mainly in and around the inner crossguard areas. The lower scabbard ‘ball’ is a little squashed, as the dagger has been dropped at some time, but it’s all there and does not really detract from the lovely condition of the rest of the piece. The scabbard ring has the original short leather hanger in blue leather with snap clip. All uncleaned. The double edged blade is 99% mint, with all crossgrain polish remaining. The original blue blade washer is intact. The blade riccasso has a perfect etched trademark for the SMF company. It features the ‘seated king’ logo.
