AN EARLY SS ‘33 DAGGER WITH ORIGINAL VERTICAL HANGER BY HERDER.

An extremely nice SS ‘33 dagger by premier maker. Worn by ALL members/ranks of the SS until 1936, when the chained dagger was authorised for Officers. This one also has what I think are ‘capture dates’ scratched into the top and bottom crossguards. They both read 11-13-44. Not an SS membership number, and written in the way Americans write their dates with the MONTH first, then DATE then YEAR. So this is 13th November 1944.
Dagger has all solid nickel fittings, an indented bottom ball. Very nice, complete black anodising to the scabbard body. A very nice ebony grip with SS button and nickel eagle. An original vertical hanger is attached to the scabbard ring etc. Blade is very nice indeed with no issues. Most of the original crossgrain polish is evident and nice dark lettering to the motto. Reverse riccasso is etched with the HERDER oval trademark. Lower crossguard is stamped with a Roman numeral ‘I’. Nice example!!!!
