A MINT EXAMPLE OF LUFTWAFFE 2nd Pattn DAGGER BY ALCOSO. COMPLETE WITH HANGERS AND KNOT.

This is a really nice example of this pattern of dagger. Introduced as an ‘officers’ dagger to replace the longer 1st Pattn dagger which was continued to be worn by senior NCO’s. This is in mint to near mint condition throughout. Alcoso daggers have particular design and production characteristics, and this has them all, so you can usually spot them amongst other Luftwaffe daggers. The scabbard design is much more ‘round’ and the throat retention screws are unique to Alcoso. Crossguard design is slightly different too, as is the pommel. This dagger retains all the original ‘airplane grey’ finish to the scabbard, with contrasting light aluminium finish to crossguard and pommel. A very nice off-white celluloid over wood grip with the thin twisted wire Alcoso used. There is a near mint 23cm bullion portapee correctly tied in place. The dagger has its original de-luxe hangers with cast oak leaf top clip and metal tops to the straps which enable them to swing and move with the dagger. A lovely set of straps which are worth £200 on their own! The blade is absolutely stone mint!! Beautiful perfect finish, bright as the day it was made! The Alcoso trademark is the later type which runs horizontally along the blade with the Alcoso name in script with the balance scales trademark.
