ARMY OFFICERS DOVE HEAD PARADE SWORD BY ALCOSO.
A nice example of a parade sword made by Alcoso. It is pictured in Angola’s sword book on page 63 and like most of Alcoso swords is unattributed. A very nice brass base ‘dove head’ hilt with a lot of the original fire gilt still visible, especially on the reverse. This is quite a ‘dainty’ sword if you can call them that. Quite a small D guard, thinner blade and quite a small national closed wing eagle cast into the crossguard. Swords are very interesting to collect as there were so many variations, with companies vying with each other for sales with different designs.
Great detail around the crossguard and D guard with acorns designs etc. Black celluloid grip with triple twisted wire wrap. Black painted scabbard has original paint. A very nice steel polished blade with the earlier ALCOSO scales trademark stamped into the riccasso. Nice variation. Quite a long sword with a 33“ blade and 39 “ overall length.
