A RARE EXAMPLE OF A COMPLETE/FULL ROHM DEDICATION EARLY SA DAGGER BY EICKHORN. PERSONALISED POMMELL NUT!.
Would actually make a great companion to the fully erased Rohm SA recently listed. Same maker and same era. This is a superior example of a 1934 SA dagger by Carl Eickhorn with the full, untouched ROHM DEDICATION. As collectors know, anything to do with Rohm was ordered by Hitler to be erased or destroyed. How or why these daggers have survived, as it would have been dangerous at the time to keep them openly, will remain locked in history. These were obviously kept by loyal supporters of Rohm, and as he presented these to them, perhaps they just wanted to keep them?
This is a very nice, typical early Eickhorn product. Nice uncleaned solid nickel fittings throughout. Perfect mid brown wood grip with no damage. Lower crossguard has the Ns Gau area mark. Nordsee were apparently allocated 4100 Rohm daggers. It is also stamped underneath with the ‘benchmark’ number 0. Also has some indents along the lower edges. The top pommel retaining nut, has been beautiful personalised with a small engraved mobile swastika! Scabbard retains all of the original brown ‘anodised’ coating as well as most of the covering lacquer, with has surface bubbling in places. Bottom scabbard ball is in damaged. The beautiful blade remains in virtually mint condition. Full crossgrain polish and deep grey colour to the lettering both front and back.
