A VERY EARLY AND MOST UNUSUAL HJ DAGGER WITH NATIONAL STUDENT LEAGUE INSIGNIA.

This is a really nice piece and I have no reason whatsoever to question it. The National Student League were directly associated with membership of the HJ and older members of the HJ were recruited into the NS. This is an initial production HJ dagger with full ‘Blut und Ehre’ motto and a blade with NO riccasso. Steel hilt is nickel plated and in good condition. There is some wear to the top pommel edge, as well as a little plate lifting and wear to the crossguard area. The chequered grips are perfect. There is a lovely enamel NS elongated swastika badge properly inset into the grip. A perfect fit. The scabbard seems to have a full anodised or blued finish. The leather belt loop and cross tab with popper are 100%. The blade is perfect. No sharpening and original polish. The motto is deeply etched and clear. The reverse has the intertwined maker mark ‘PS’ initials of Paul Salheimer and Gesrtzl Geschutz. I’ve not seen this maker ever before on an early HJ dagger.
Overall, a very unique and interesting piece.
