A MINT CONDITIONED POLICE OFFICERS DEGEN WITH SS POMMELL, KNOT & HANGER.

These are not often found and consisted quite rare. The Police during the Third Reich era, were under the direct command of Himmler and the SS, so there was a lot of cooperation between them. Some Police Officers were obviously much more affiliated with the SS and probably had SS membership. This parade degen was probably owned by a senior police officer directly associated or working with the SS. Near mint heavily nickel plated hilt fittings. Super black ebony grip with horizontal wire and nickel back strap. Nice police insignia deeply inserting the grip. It still has bits silver colour as all the silver wash finish has not worn off. There is a ‘grosse’ sized police portapee tied around the grip and D guard. Black leather strapping with red/silver lines and bullion acorn with green/silver alternating threads The pommel is amazing and has a beautiful set of SS runes engraved into the surface with a pebbled/hatched cut out background. In all the Police defend I’ve had like this, all are slightly different as these SS runes in the pommel were all hand done. A few even have the little SS runes button inset, but these are very few and far between. Scabbard has all the original factory black paint and is in near mint condition.
Both upper and lower scabbard fittings are in perfect shape. There is a black leather teardrop hanger attached to the rear scabbard fitting, which has the rarely seen ‘mobile swastika’ makers stamp. The blade on this sword is in stone mint condition. No issues at all. Perfect! The makers name of HERMAN RATH SOLINGEN is deeply stamped into the reverse riccasso.
