EARLY SS DAGGER BY BOKER WITH ERASED ROHM BLADE & ORIGINAL VERTICAL HANGER.

This is a very good example of a historical period. An early SS dagger, issued to both officers and other ranks. Made in 1933:34 and given out as an ‘honour dagger’ by Ernst ROHM to all his followers in the SA and SS. There were more issued to the SA than the SS and therefore this this makes this a much rarer dagger. This is a very early dagger and therefore has all solid nickel fittings throughout. Not been cleaned in a very long time, if ever. Great black ebony grip with no damage. Nickel grip eagle with perfect enamel SS button. Lower crossguard marked with Roman numeral ‘I’. Scabbard is an early black anodised variety with all original black finish and about 75% of the protecting lacquer too. The vertical hanger has protected a lot of this up and around its fitment areas. The vertical hanger has not been off this dagger in many years and in my opinion is the original hanger to this piece. It has green verdigris around the nickel ring fitting and you can see the areas around and underneath the leather where the scabbard finish is protected. I’ve not taken this early hanger off the dagger but I am certain this will not be RZM marked as this is a very early hanger. The lower scabbard fitting is perfect. No damages to the ball on lower fitting.
The blade is near mint. Most of the crossgrain polish is present on the obverse side and the motto letters are deep, dark and clear. The reverse of the blade has had the Ernst ROHM dedication completely removed, but it’s still possible to see 2 small portions of the original dedication. The small BOKER trademark is up near the crossguard and has just an edge slightly removed by the deletion process. As with many of the erased Rohm blades ! have handled, the edges of the blades have some micro edge light sharpening marks. It seems the removal process (not factory) does this. Seen it many times. A really great dagger.
