A NEAR MINT TENO MANS HEWER WITH ORIGINAL FROG.
This is an exceptionally good example of the large TENO hewer carried by the men and NCO’s of the TENO, (abbreviated from Technische Nothilfe). All TENO daggers were made by EICKHORN as they had the exclusive contract. All daggers were numbered (both mans and officers). This dagger has near perfect nickel plating to ALL the hilt and scabbard fittings. They are very prone to the plating lifting and this has NONE of that. Perfect cream celluloid grip plates. Scabbard paint is completely original with just some spidering to the surface. The dagger has the ORIGINAL black leather heavy duty ‘frog’ which is clipped to the rear scabbard mount and consists of an Assmann marked snap clip and heavy duty leather belt loop. It also has the narrow leather retaining cross strap which on most examples is missing or broken as it’s not designed very well!!! The blade is in mint condition and similar to the RAD hewer has a large, slab sided ‘Bowie’ type blade. The Eickhorn trademark along with the unique TENO eagle is deeply etched into the reverse blade riccasso. As I mentioned, all TENO daggers are numbered. This has the numbers 7599 etched into the blade and stamped into the top of the scabbard throat. A really nice conditioned dagger.
