RARE MAKER ARMY DAGGER BY A. SCHUTTELHOFER & Co.

Whist most army daggers are still relatively common, there are a few much rarer makers, made by smaller manufacturers and therefore produced in smaller numbers. This is a perfect example of a much more unusual maker. A. SCHUTTELHOFER &Co Solingen Wald. Their great trademark is ASSO with twin hobby horses above. SCHUTTELHOFER did not make complete daggers from scratch so most of the parts were bought in as generic. Crossguard etc etc. it has a cresm celluloid over wood grip. Nickel plated over alloy fittings. There is an original to the piece 42cm bullion knot, which seems to have never been off and is a little frayed where it comes out of the tie. Scabbard is dent free and has all the original plating. Blade is in stone mint condition with all polish crossgrain etc. The reverse blade riccasso has the ‘Asso’ trademark very clearly etched into the surface. A great one for the type collectors out there.
