AN EARLY SS ‘33 DAGGER BY HAMMESFAR WITH HANGER.

Perhaps one of the daggers I am asked about the most. Early SS daggers (or SS chained!). This is one of the earky all nickel varieties produced in the early 1930’s and would have been worn by all ranks of the SS until the chained version was issued for officers in 1936. All solid nickel fittings, crossguards, scabbard fittings etc. Lower crossguards are marked with Roman numeral III. A very nice ebony grip with no discernible cracks, splits or damage. A perfect SS enamel button and a nice nickel eagle inlaid into the grip. Scabbard seems to have had a very good period paint. Often done with these early daggers as the anodised finish wore off quickly and looked tatty. There is an original short hanger attached to the carrying ring which has a ver nice early nickel snap clip. The blade is in mint condition with all crossgrain polish remaining and deep and clear lettering to the motto. The reverse blade riccasso has the oval etched Gottleib Hammesfar trademark of a pyramid etc A nice SS dagger and priced very reasonably.
