A NEAR MINT EXAMPLE OF A SHORT K98 ‘PIONEER’ DRESS BAYONET.

A recent purchase from America, this is a mint example of this type of unusual dress bayonet. I’m not sure how these have been labelled ‘pioneer’ bayonets, as there is no period reference to them being called this at all! They are pictured in the Eickhorn and WKC period catalogues but just have production numbers etc. No name. All of them feature the crossgusrd WITHOUT the upswept quillion. This was just a new design tried out by these companies, but it did not prove very popular so hence they are quite rare to find. This one has 100% of the ORIGINAL nickel plated hilt etc. Perfect chequered crossguards and mint untouched black painted scabbard. The nickel plated carbine type blade, with false edge, is in very good condition. A couple of old finger smudges. No damage, no sharpening.

The sale of Knives and other Edged Weapons are restricted to those aged over 18. Verification of age is required before purchase is concluded.”
