WW2 JAPANESE OFFICERS KATANA/SAMURAI SWORD WITH BATTLE COVER AND ORIGINSL ‘KNOT’
This comes from a family source in Norfolk and has not been on the collectors market before. A typical souvenir and in very good but not mint condition. Just as it should be after 80 years. I am no expert on these, but I have had enough to know this is untouched and not messed with. Nothing missing and no damage. Grip has all the original binding and attached to the top hanging loop is the original Officers brown/blue silk tassel knot. Scabbard has the original brown leather battle cover, which has moulded itself to the scabbard itself. This is in very good condition with no tears etc.
As far as I can see the blade is a period war-time factory one (not family or older). I have not removed the grip to read any markings on the tang, which will be there, I will leave that to the next owner.
The blade itself is very clean, but could do with a careful polish etc. There is no, rust, pitting or damage to the edge.
A good, honest example at a reasonable price.
