AN EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF A LONG ‘PIONEER’ DRESS BAYONET.
These bayonets have a name attached to thrm which is not actually true! We’ve called these ‘pioneer’ bayonets for years, yet there is no evidence whatsoever that theses were designed for Pioneers! What exactly does that mean anyway? These were just a design change by the manufactures to be a bit different and attract more customers. In fact they proved to be poor sellers and therefore made themselves rare to start with!!! This is a very nice example in near mint condition. All nickel plated hilt. Nice chequered grips. No hooked quillion as designed. Nice original black scabbard paint and a mint, heavily plated nickel blade. This is made by Ernst Pack & Sohn with their distinctive trademark stamped into the riccasso.
