LUFTWAFFE 2nd Pattn. DAGGER BY EICKHORN WITH DISTRIBUTOR MARKED BLADE, HANGERS & KNOT.

This is not a combination I have come across very often, especially on a Luftwaffe dagger like this. It was common for officers to acquire uniforms etc from an official distributor, a private taylor’s shop for instance. Daggers and swords could be ordered through them too, and very occasionally the distributor would add his name to the item, or in this case, stamp it onto the blade. This one has the name of GEBR. MEYER MUNSTER stamped on one side and the Eickhorn 1935-41 trademark etched on the other! It has a nice orange grip with twisted aluminium wire wrap. Two tiny period chips up beside the pommel neck. Original 23cm bullion portapee. Damage free dark finished scabbard with contrasting suspension bands. A decent set of de-luxe hangers which show honest period use. A very good dagger overall with interesting blade.
