“SPECIAL OFFERING” NAVAL OFFICERS DAGGER BY WKC
A very nice example with quite a lot of fire gilding left, which has given it a very ‘antique’ look. All brass construction with a faultless, undamaged scabbard. Typical detailed pommel with WKC casting. A very cream coloured grip in celluloid. Very nice age to it. Complete with the original twisted brass wire. There is a hairline crack around the middle of the grip and a tiny chip under the pommel. Unfortunately VERY common with navy daggers as the wood base shrinks (or expands) and damages the celluloid. It’s actually not noticeable. This dagger has a WKC maker marked blade but it is not etched. A mint plain blade. An etched blade was actually an extra cost option with some makers. So to save money, many naval officers opted to just have polished steel. Plain blades are actually much rarer to find than etched ones! So if you are a serious collector, you need an example to complete a comprehensive collection.
