EARLY 1st Pattn. LUFTWAFFE DAGGER BY WEYERSBERG.

A classic early Luftwaffe dagger. All nickel construction with very nice scabbard and grip leather. This 1st type Luftwaffe dagger was introduced in 1935 and was worn by all serving Luftwaffe OFFICERS only. It was was replaced by the 2nd Pattn Luftwaffe dagger introduced in 1937. The original 1st type continued to be worn by senior NCO's but not in nickel. This is a lovely example and has remained untouched and uncleaned. Heavy silver content in the nickel fittings. Near perfect blue Moroccan leather to the grip and scabbard. Solid nickel chains with a DRGM marked snap clip. There is an original 23cm portapee tied around the grip and crossguard, which again looks to have been with the dagger for a long time. The heavily nickel plated blade is in mint condition throughout and is etched with the oval Weyersbery trademark and a little Waffanampt 'stick bird' inspection mark above it.
