A HIGHLY PERSONALISED LUFTWAFFE FIGHTING KNIFE WITH COVER!!
I’ve never had something quite like this before. It’s a standard Luftwaffe fighting knife, with a mint blade and marked with inspection stamp ’5’ on the riccasso, but there the similarity ends! The original owner has personalised the grip on one side by inserting a little metal eagle and swastika over a period badge of one of the first VW Beetle cars. This has ‘Kdf wagon’ written on it. Beside these badges are two swastika transfers. Then the whole grip has been period varnished. IN ADDITION, the original owner has made a black leather cover that slides over the scabbard. It’s been made so the spring clips on the reverse still work. The leather cover has been embellished with 4 Officer/NCO rank pips from epaulettes. Extremely well done and the original owner obviously took pride in his knife.
As I said, the blade is mint with no sharpening and all the crossgrain polish. Very unusual.
