AN EARLY PERSONALISED/NAMED ALL NICKEL LUFTWAFFE OFFICERS SWORD.

A firm favourite of mine with a design like no other!!
Based on Medieval period sword hilt designs. The downswept winged crossguard looks amazing. This was also copied by the design of the 1st Pattn Luftwaffe dagger, and having two together make a great display. This has brass insedvswastikas in the pommel and crossguard. The large pommel swastikas have lost some of the silver background between the legs, but the smaller crossguard swastikas still have the background silver wash. Very nice dark blue leather to the grip and scabbard. Double twisted grip wire is perfect. Upper scabbard rings still have the integral crescent shaped carrying ‘frog’. Often missing on so many of these swords. The reverse of the top scabbard fitting has the name ‘WILKEN’ professionally engraved in capital letters. A good chance for a bit of research perhaps. The nickel plated blade is in mint condition and is 26.5 “ long. Overall length 34.5”. The blade buffer is in place. The SMF ‘seated king’ trademark is deeply etched into the blade surface along with the inspection Waffenampt stick bird.
A very nice period sword.
