A PRIME EXAMPLE OF AN EARLY ‘33 SS DAGGER WITH ITS ORIGINAL VERTICAL HANGER.
This is one of the super early SS daggers made in 1934, yet carries the RZM code 120/34. As yet, no manufacturer has been identified to this code. These are amazing daggers, all made with the early materials associated with ‘maker marked’ daggers of the same vintage. All metal fittings, crossguards, scabbard fittings etc are solid nickel. Lower crossguard stamped with Roman numersl ‘I’. Solid perfect ebony grip with nickel eagle and perfect SS enamel button. Scabbard has all of the original black ‘anodised’ finish and also most of the original protective shellac lacquer!! More present on the obverse than the reverse. The dagger has its original black leather vertical hanger with nickel snap clip. Hanger is also in beautiful condition with just minor wear. It’s been on the dagger for a very long time, so I don’t intend on removing it. The lower scabbard ball is very slightly dented. The blade is wonderful with all original crossgrain polish to both sides. Deep colour to the SS motto and similar colour to the reverse RZM etch, which says in full SS in twin circles, 120/34. RZM in twin circles.
A really, really nice dagger and a perfect example of this type, which would have been worn by both SS men, officers and NCO’s.
