AN AMAZING FIND - 1936 SS CHAINED DAGGER WRAPPED IN ORIGINAL NEWSPAPER FROM 1996!

This is just to prove there are still items like this out there even after 80+ years!! The dagger was bought into a friends shop several weeks ago, wrapped inside a copy of the Daily Mail dated September 16 1996. According to the family member who bought it in, the dagger was returned to England as a war souvenir. The veteran died in 1996 and the dagger was wrapped in the paper and put away until now.
It has remained completely untouched and uncleaned. There is no damage to the dagger whatsoever, but patina has formed onto the surfaces here and there. The next owner could chose to clean this off, or just leave it as it is. This is a mid-period SS chained dagger, into the RZM period, so the fittings are not early nickel. However, the plating remains everywhere, including noth crossguards. Grip is perfect black ebony with untouched SS button and a nickel grip eagle, both covered in light patina. Scabbard is factory painted black and apart from a very few age ‘spiders’, is in mint condition! The chain is a Type I, with SS stamping to one reverse link. As this is a painted scabbard, the central chain fitting/band, only has one fitment screw. Text-book! The blade has survived beautifully and is in STONE MINT condition!! All crossgrain is present throughout and all the grey background is in the lettering. Reverse of the blade has no maker mark! Of course!!
If only this could talk……
The original newspaper is included.
