EARLY ALL BRASS WHERMACHT OFFICERS SWORD BY RARE MAKER.

This is the first sword in the listing of a large German WW2 sword collection recently acquired. More to follow. There are 15-20 swords, mainly army, but naval and several Luftwaffe officers dress swords.
This example is quite unusual and I can’t remember seeing this particular pattern before. It is also not listed in the Swords of the Third Reich book.
A very nice all brass ‘dove head’ hilt which is profusely decorated with oak leaves etc. Black celluloid grip with triple twisted wire wrap. Crossguard has a beautifully defined closed wing eagle and swastika sitting inside a shield with pebbled background. The scabbard is damage free and has all of the original black factory paint. The nickel plated blade is in mint condition with no blemishes or damage. This sword is made by Paul Salheimer whose trademark and initials are deeply stamped into the reverse riccasso. Whist Salheimer is a known dagger and sword manufacturer, their products do not appear very often. A nice sword to add to any collection.
