SS OFFICERS 1936 CHAINED DAGGER MID-PERIOD IN NEAR PERFECT CONDITION.

I was very pleased to buy this super dagger from a local contact, who thought of me first!! This is the dagger that all dagger collectors aim for and treasure as the highlight of their collections. This is a mid-period piece produced when the RZM took more control of the procedures. The crossguard are are nickel plated over the base metal alloy, but have remained uncleaned and are in near perfect condition with no lifting or oxidisation. A perfect ebony black wood grip with perfect SS runes button and a nickel grip eagle. The scabbard is wonderful with all the ORIGINAL black anodised finish on both sides! The type II chain has all the background blackening to all of the links and also the central mount. As this is an anodised scabbard, there are 2 screws holding the mount to the scabbard. The chains are the type with a scull showing a split nose. Amazing detail to the chain. The blade is in near mint condition, but with a couple of slight grey areas where the internal springs have rested against the blade all these years. These areas are not pitted and perhaps a very careful clean would bring the blade to near full mint. Lower scabbard fitting and ball are fine with no damage.
A really nice example of a SS chained dagger from this period of production.
