A FULL SA ROHM INSCRIPTION DAGGER BY EP&S.
This is from the same collection as the other Rohm I listed last week. Again a dagger that has been left alone and not cleaned ever, seems! Exterior nickel fittings have toned to a deep yellow colour with a mixture of age and nicotine probably. Scabbard is undamaged and has a full coating of the brown anodised finish, but no lacquer and a little patchy in places. The bottom ball is squashed as the dagger has obviously been dropped at some time. All screws are present. Nice mid-wood grip, typical of EP&S as it has a much more curved and dainty appearance. Nickel eagle and undamaged SA button. Lower crossguard marked with Nrh Gau (I think). The blade is very nice with lots of crossgrain evident. A little greying up near the crossguard. Full SA motto with deep dark grey background. Reverse has full and deeply etched Rohm dedication. It’s exactly the same age and colour as the obverse SA motto. EP & S trademark deeply etched.
At some stage the very tip of the blade seems to have been dropped or slightly damaged. Only the very tip, about 5mm. It has been re-polished and corrected. Quite a good job really.
Anyway, it’s noted and the dagger is priced accordingly. Still a terribly rare item with un-messed dedication and very good otherwise.
