A VERY GOOD EXAMPLE OF A WEIMAR/THIRD REICH PERIOD NAVAL OFFICERS SWORD.

The German navy seemed to resist having too many Third Reich symbols on their edged weapons. The daggers just had one small one on the eagle pommel and many officers wore their old daggers with just an updated eagle pommel.Their dress swords remained virtually unchanged from WW1 and didn’t carry any swastikas on the exterior at all! The design of the sword carried in the late 1920’s (Weimar period) and the Third Reich era were virtually identical, and obviously officers who served in the Weimar navy carried their swords into the 1930’s and 1940’s. This is a very nice example of a standard officers sword. Great blast fittings with some fire gild left in many areas. Beautiful lions head hilt. Perfect cream celluloid grip with triple twisted wire wrap. No damage or cracks to the grip. Nice brass anchor folding clamshell. Reverse locking langet. Black leather scabbard with triple brass fittings and carrying rings. The nickel plated, pipe-backed blade is in near mint condition with just a couple of blemished to the surface. The blade is completely unmarked but still has a portion of the original blade buffer. A very good example to go with your navy collection and priced very reasonably.
