AN EARLY ALL NICKEL SS 1936 CHAINED DAGGER WITH PARTIAL CHAINS.

I’ve had this dagger personally for quite a while as I really like it just as it is!! However there may be a possibility that someone out there has other parts of the chain that would complete it. Who knows!!
The dagger has a story when I purchased it from the family. It used to hang on the wall in one of their houses, but was pulled OFF the wall during an argument. The chain broke, came apart and unfortunately they lost the top hanging clip and a couple of links over the years.
This is a typical, early solid nickel fittings 1936 SS officers chained dagger in every way. Nickel upper and lowe crossguards. The lower one also being marked with a SA Gau as the factory producing these daggers also made SA’s and used up stocks! Very wise. A lovely ebony grip with nickel eagle and perfect SS button. The grip retains the original 42cm bullion knot, which I was told, was always with the dagger. You can see that Sa there is one small part worn, where it’s rubbed against the crossguard end. The scabbard is perfect and is the ‘anodised’ type. All the black finish is present and at least 50% of the original lacquer too! Upper, lower and middle fittings are nickel. The middle one has ONE retaining screw which is normal for anodised scabbards. Attached to the upper and middle fittings is the remaining links of the chain. All nickel again. The upper part has the 2 normal links, one stamped with the SS ‘Kulturzeichen’ proof. The lower links are just 2 with a skull and SS. The rest are missing. This is a ‘type II’ chain, as there is one bevelled top fitting link remaining too.
Blade is damage free and unmarked. Not mint, but in very good overall condition. It has some old finger smudges here and there and I am sure, with a little work would clean up to near perfect. Nice deep motto letters.
A chance here to buy a 200% real example, untouched and uncleaned. There is also the possibility of completing the chain in the future, which would virtually double the value!!
