A HUGE FORESTRY/SHOOTING CUTLASS BY ALCOSO WITH 4 LINE GIFT DEDICATION 1935!

A truly superb Forestry cutlass by ALCOSO, with shooting association connections ,which has an early trademark. (Remember there was not a specific Shooting Assiciation dagger until 1938) Perhaps one of the longest they made with overall length of 23”! In beautiful condition. All brass fittings. Large stag grips with triple acorns. Crossguard features a stags head with antlers on one end and a hunting dogs head on the other. The huge clamshell has a wild boar being attacked by hunting dogs. Long black leather scabbard and it even has an original Forestry brown leather frog slid onto the top fitting. These are a terribly rare accoutrement as they have a tendency to slip off and get lost. The long, triple etched blade is in mint condition. It features hunting and shooting scenes throughout. The reverse riccasso is stamped with an Alcoso trademark. The ‘piece de resistance’ is on the reverse of the upper scabbard fitting. There is a 4 line dedication which reads “

This translates to…..”to the co-founder and association leader Major Th. Kayser presented by the officer corps of the citizens' and marksmen's association Wambel September 1935'.
Wambel is a district of the city of Dortmund.
A marvellous dedication and a lovely gift to receive!
There is enough information here to research this individual. Presented to him in 1935, 2 years after Hitler took power, so it’s properly in the Third Reich era.
