AN EARLY SA DAGGER WITH HANGER, BY WILHELM KOBER SUHL.
A super looking dagger and NOT made in Solingen!
Although Solingen was the major city for steel products (as Sheffield is in England), there were a few other cities that had dagger and sword production. SUHL is located some 370 km East of Solingen and is in Thuringia, It was in East Germany until the unification. During the 19th century Suhl became a centre of Germany's arms production, specialized on rifles and guns with companies such as Sauer & Sohn. This is a lovely example of a dagger made in this area with a tell-tale lighter colour hardwood grip. All nickel silver fittings are in uncleaned state with nice patina. Nickel silver eagle with perfect enamel SA button. Lower crossguard is marked with Th (Thiringen) Gau stamp with coincides perfectly with the production area. Nice scabbard with brown anodised surfaces. There is a short hanger with belt loop. Blade is virtually stone mint with full crossgrain polish and deep, crisp lettering. A really nice SA dagger.
