AN EXTREMELY NICE POLICE ‘FELDGENDARMERIE’ RURAL BAYONET COMPLETE!

INSTANTLY RE-LISTED DUE TO ANOTHER TIME WASTER!!!! This Police bayonet has everything going for it! Firstly it has all super brown leather scabbard and matching brown police frog, designating this was used only by the town or village police (major towns/cities had black leather accoutrements). The solid nickel birds head pommel has a mortice slot and release button, so it could be fitted to a K98 rifle. It also has the correct ‘rural’ police portapee with green/silver acorn!! It’s in marvellous condition with a near mint nickel plated blade and is made by WKC, with both the Knights head trademark and the full company name on alternate sides of the riccasso. These bayonets were once longer and had a clamshell and used by the police during the Weimar period. Most were re-worked and re-issued by Third Reich period armourers to incorporate a Third Rich police badge on the grip, remove the clamshell and shorten the blade and scabbard. They also were numbered when issued in the Weimar period, but many numbers were removed, defaced or miss-matched during this alteration period, as it didn’t matter any longer where they came from or where they went. This one has S.Me.I.279 stamped into the scabbard throat but all the relevant number have been ground from the reverse crossguard except S. ???? Obviously been together for ever, and came originally from the same police area as S means Schneidemuhl district. A really nice, complete bayonet.
