RED CROSS SAW-BACK DAGGER WITH FROG.
A very nice Red Cross hewer with the interesting saw-back blade. In near perfect condition with all the nickel type plating intact on the hilt and crossguard. Perfect chequered grips. A black painted scabbard with 85%+ of the original paint intact. In addition it has the original black bayonet style frog, which has always been on this dagger. These frogs, whilst looking similar to other bayonet frogs, are unique to the Red Criss dagger, and are now very rare indeed to find on their own. Blade still has an old covering of protective grease which I have left alone. The blade seems to be stone mint underneath. Interestingly, Red Cross daggers, both these and the officers model, never have a maker marked blade. The saw-back hewer sometimes has the words Ges.Geschutz stamped onto the riccasso under the crossguard lozenge. This one is completely plain. Very unusual.
